Wintering

This is a medium sized painting from a series of studies painted over the last year. I paint these small pieces in the studio very instinctively, immediately after being in the landscape. They help to shape my larger work through experiments of palette and composition. This piece was developed following a sudden flurry of snow on my morning walk.
